I love Wordpress as stated in the post before this one.  Because of this I have a couple of sites that I play around with so I can learn without messing up my real estate site.

On one of the play sites, I have the majority of traffic coming from MSN; probably 90% of it.  But on the real estate site it is 90% Google traffic.  I can’t point to anything that causes one thing or the other.  I do similar SEO things for both.

Interestingly I couldn’t find an article on how to improve my MSN results but there are tons of articles on how to improve Google searching you.  I really don’t know why anyone would use something other than Google.  It works like I need and any time I tried to use another search engine I was not impressed.

But that doesn’t change the fact that MSN likes one of my sites.  Should I push to get more MSN searchers on my real estate site?  Or is the difference in the search results indicative of the people who are searching for certain terms?  As I delve deeper into the internet void I may learn that answer.

On this site I will be doing no SEO tricks, no tags, no categories, no sitemaps, no outbound links unless I have to, or anything else.  My name is in the title.  I won’t use it again anywhere as this site was really just a placeholder for my name as a domain.  I did decide to put a sitemeter on here just to track if anyone comes here when I really am not trying.   It is a good way to see how important SEO really is.

I made a blog post about 10 minutes ago.  I have google alerts set up to let me know when I show up in cyberspace.  I just logged into my email and I had a google alert about that post that came in 9 minutes ago.

Since I switched my real estate site from Blogger to Wordpess about a year ago my site has jumped in rankings and it comes up on the alerts much faster.  Even though Blogger is owned by Google and I find that fascinating.

So if you want to start a blog or website, which is all a blog really is, then use Wordpress.  I went from know jack squat to being able to do a lot of tweaking.  Go Wordpress!

I was told today that the Andriod has a barcode scanner.  This allows you to scan products and then it will search for prices on the internet.  Wicked.

Here are more features.

It should be a fun phone.  And with the open platform there should be ton of updates and programs.  I think this is the PC vs Mac all over.  PC’s and Windows were for all computers.  Apple and Mac were their own thing and that is how Windows won.

I expect that to happen here.  The google platform is for anyone who wants to use it.  T-Mobile just got there first.

Sometime soon I will start a national movement to remove all websites and blogs that have black backgrounds with white writing.  I am not an old guy but those sites jack with my eyes.  If I try to read them and then go to another site my eyes have a ghost image on them.

I have plenty of blogs and none of them have that style inside for the writer.  The sites look good at first glance but not when you read them.  Mr. Barrett, I would love to read your blog as well as the Blazers site but I can’t.  It isn’t worth it to my eyes.

My “other” blog is ranked 11th on Google for my focused search term.  I got two hits today which is a great sign.   A client read my other blog and asked if I actually write it all.  I proudly answered yes after I asked him if he was a English major.  I tick them off a little bit.

There are many tools and tricks that sound good if spun correctly when trying to supe up a website.   The number one complaint I hear of MySpace is the autoplay of each and every piece of music and video on a landing page.

Your music probably sucks and I don’t want to hear it; especially if I am at work.  I go to youtube and other sites to purposefully listen to media.  Sometimes I need to turn up the sound for other sites to play.  So then I land on an autoplay site and get blasted.  Besides the shock of it, maybe I don’t want someone near me to know that I am listening or watching media.

So goodbye ESPN, I can no longer go to your site.  I keep going back after I forget about your stupid autoplay video on the side.  It often plays a moment after I load the page startling me.  I often load a page and then go to a previous page to read something.  Then the sound comes up and I have to hastily figure out which window is making noise.

Please disable your dumbass autoplay.  It is irritating.  Leave a mute button that we can unclick.  I will check back in a couple moths.
