Mike Barrett’s Blog

// October 9th, 2008 // No Comments » // Uncategorized

Sometime soon I will start a national movement to remove all websites and blogs that have black backgrounds with white writing.  I am not an old guy but those sites jack with my eyes.  If I try to read them and then go to another site my eyes have a ghost image on them.

I have plenty of blogs and none of them have that style inside for the writer.  The sites look good at first glance but not when you read them.  Mr. Barrett, I would love to read your blog as well as the Blazers site but I can’t.  It isn’t worth it to my eyes.

Google Rank

My “other” blog is ranked 11th on Google for my focused search term.  I got two hits today which is a great sign.   A client read my other blog and asked if I actually write it all.  I proudly answered yes after I asked him if he was a English major.  I tick them off a little bit.

Autoplay On Websites

// October 1st, 2008 // No Comments » // Uncategorized

There are many tools and tricks that sound good if spun correctly when trying to supe up a website.   The number one complaint I hear of MySpace is the autoplay of each and every piece of music and video on a landing page.

Your music probably sucks and I don’t want to hear it; especially if I am at work.  I go to youtube and other sites to purposefully listen to media.  Sometimes I need to turn up the sound for other sites to play.  So then I land on an autoplay site and get blasted.  Besides the shock of it, maybe I don’t want someone near me to know that I am listening or watching media.

So goodbye ESPN, I can no longer go to your site.  I keep going back after I forget about your stupid autoplay video on the side.  It often plays a moment after I load the page startling me.  I often load a page and then go to a previous page to read something.  Then the sound comes up and I have to hastily figure out which window is making noise.

Please disable your dumbass autoplay.  It is irritating.  Leave a mute button that we can unclick.  I will check back in a couple moths.
